The Story

Enterprise Expertise, Applied to SMB.

Layer8 Tech Group was founded in August 2025 in Marietta, Georgia, by John Wallace — an enterprise technology leader with 20+ years of experience at organizations including CVS Health, Aetna, and Encompass Digital Media.

The founding observation: the same structured assessment frameworks that enterprise buyers use in M&A diligence — risk scoring, domain-weighted evaluation, multi-factor scoring models — were not available to the SMB market in an accessible, affordable form.

Layer8 was built to change that. Three AI-powered assessment products in the first year. A fourth in development. All built on the same principle: structured, scored, defensible analysis — not subjective opinion.

20+ years of enterprise technology leadership across healthcare, financial services, and media. Prior roles at CVS Health and Aetna at enterprise scale — HIPAA-regulated environments, large-scale cloud migrations, M365 deployments, and AI governance frameworks.

Layer8 was founded to apply that enterprise rigor to the $1M–$50M market, where the stakes are equally high but the infrastructure has historically not been there.

Every Layer8 product is built on a shared infrastructure layer — the Layer8 AI Chassis — that enforces safety filtering, audit logging, PII detection, and the adapter pattern that prevents vendor lock-in. The chassis is open-source and publicly available on GitHub.

Responsible AI — By Design, Not by Policy.

Layer8 assessment products are designed to the NIST AI Risk Management Framework from the ground up — not retrofitted after the fact.

Our AI governance policy, permitted model list, prohibited use categories, and compliance roadmap are publicly documented and version-controlled on GitHub. Every assessment report carries a generated-by disclosure and a model version stamp.
